75% of my homeschooling is this subject and it might surprise you

75% of what I teach is social skills,

how to handle conflict,

how to do relationships

How to shop for food

How to live an adult life

and only 25% is probably academic.

I bought all these curriculums and spent thousands of dollars on all these Workbooks  but honestly, what my kids have needed the most is the help in the learning how to live life and work together-

having positive relationships,

having friendships and knowing how to deal with conflict.

So, if you don't feel like you can homeschool, you don't feel like the academic part is there, don't be discouraged.

In reality: all I do is deal with life skills.

We run several businesses out of the home. So, running businesses- seeing us behind the scenes, Being with us on the job site doing all this stuff is about of our life.

So if you feel like, “man, I'm not getting through a lot of academics today,”

but you're getting through, a lot of conversations about life,

about hard things ,

about messy situation,

sticky situations.

“What would you do if you were in this situation?”

“How can you handle this as a young person?”

“What would you say to your friend?

What If you did this?”

And we are doing a lot of this right now since I had preteens and almost a teen- that's learning for them, that's learning how to live life.

That's learning how to to engage in society.

How to be a good friend- learning what to do.

How to make good choices and that is the majority of what I talk about all day from 7 a.m. when they get up to 9 p.m. 10 p.m. when they go to bed.

It is me talking through life situations, adulting-Pro tips: like how to save money on this?

What to look for in that?

What is the news talking about?

How to make good choices.

What can you trust?

Who can you trust?

That's mostly in our conversations right now.

And so if you feel like, “I don't know if the academics are there or I can do the academics,” don't be discouraged.

If you’re  living life and doing things with your kids and dealing with situations as adults, just do that- talk through that .

When they graduate and they're having a relationship with a partner and running a house and running a business.

These situations- is what I have to deal with all the time.

The academic piece is not something, I'm going to really be dealing with as an adult.

I use a Calculator, I can do Google for this.

I can figure out a video, how to watch how to do something as an adult.

I'm dealing with relationships,

family,

Marriage,

running a business,

budgets,

car stuff,

dishes,

chores-

this is how of my life is and so I feel like we need to do more of the life skills than more of the academics- and that might be unpopular opinion.

Just unfollow me if you disagree, but if you're in the same boat, I would love to hear from you and you're my people.
